WELCOME RESPITE CARE PROVIDERS!

Children & Families First worked with the Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC) to create this online directory of respite care services available to Delaware families. This project is part of a larger initiative funded by the Federal Administration on Developmental Disabilities to promote the development of a lifespan respite care system in Delaware.

Respite care provides short term relief for primary caregivers from the demands of ongoing care of a loved one with disabilities or special needs of some kind, such as an elderly relative. These family caregivers can then return to the caregiving situation rejuvenated and better able to manage the care needs. However, finding appropriate respite care providers who can effectively care for their loved one can be an extremely challenging task. Caring for children and adults with special needs often requires specific education and training that many drop-in or back up care providers may not have. To help these families find the specialized respite care options they need, the DDC awarded a grant to CFF to enable us to expand our child and elder care databases to include information on respite care options in the community that can accommodate individuals with disabilities. This free RespiteOnline search is now available to all Delawareans.

If your organization provides respite care, we want to include information on the services you offer in RespiteOnline. There is no fee for you to be listed, and it provides you with an excellent opportunity to attract potential clients. Listing in RespiteOnline DOES NOT obligate you to fulfill any care request that you are unable to accommodate.

Listing is quick and easy – simply fill out our online Respite Care Information Form , or print out a copy of the Respite Care Information Form and fax or mail it to CFF, per contact information on form.
